Community comes first as Daisy Hill solar plans progress

As plans for the Daisy Hill Solar Farm take shape, renewable energy developer Enviromena is already making a positive impact in the local community, supporting projects that matter to the people who live and work nearby.

At Burton Pidsea Primary School, pupils now have a new outdoor agility equipment shed thanks to Enviromena’s support, giving children more space to play and learn through physical activity.

The company also funded transport for a special school trip to the pantomime, spreading a little festive magic that might otherwise have been missed.

“We’re so grateful to Enviromena for stepping in to support the school,” said Angela Wright, Headteacher at Burton Pidsea Primary School.

“These kinds of contributions have a real impact on the day-to-day experience of our pupils, and it means a lot to know that a developer is taking the time to get to know our community and invest in it.”

In nearby Elstronwick, the parish council has used funding from Enviromena to brighten up the village with new spring bulb planting, a small gesture that promises big cheer for residents and visitors alike.

There are also plans to upgrade the village’s much-loved book shelter, and two new noticeboards are already in place to help residents stay connected and informed.

“Enviromena have been approachable, supportive and willing to listen. Their contributions have already made a real difference in our village,” said Elstronwick Parish Clerk Mary Jane Barker.

“It’s encouraging to see a company willing to put down roots locally before a spade has even gone in the ground.”

These early contributions reflect Enviromena’s wider commitment to leaving every community it works with in a better place than when it arrived.

Lee Adams, Chief Commercial Officer at Enviromena, said: “We believe in being a good neighbour from day one and supporting local schools and parish initiatives is a big part of that.

“We’re grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received so far around Daisy Hill and look forward to continuing to play a positive role in the community as the project progresses.”

The proposed Daisy Hill Solar Farm is currently being considered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. If approved, it will contribute significantly to the UK’s clean energy transition while continuing to support the people and places that surround it.
