Completing Warranty-Driven Repowering at Shelswell Solar Farm

Enviromena has completed repowering works at Shelswell Solar Farm in Oxfordshire and Skylark Solar Farm in Cambridgeshire – the latest sites in a programme tackling faulty equipment and to ensure sites continue to operate safely.

Commissioned over a decade ago, the Shelswell and Skylark projects have undergone significant component replacements to address both warranty-related faults and broader reliability and safety concerns. In some instances, equipment failures had resulted in safety risks, making the works essential to ensure the ongoing safe and effective operation of the site.

These projects follow similar upgrades at three other operational legacy sites: Halse in Northamptonshire, Horsacott in Barnstaple, and Jordanston in Haverfordwest. In total, Enviromena has now carried out targeted repowering works across nearly 25MW of capacity, addressing both component reliance and safety compliance concerns.

The programme is focused on responsibly managing ageing infrastructure across the UK solar fleet – prioritising long-term asset integrity, operational reliability, and safety.

Further works are currently underway at Owls Lodge Solar Farm in Hampshire, with completion expected the end of July 2025. Additional repowering projects across Somerset and Wiltshire – totalling a further 20MW – are scheduled for completion by August 2025.

“The completion of our latest repowering projects marks a key moment in our ongoing efforts to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of these projects,” said Gary Hales, Chief Operating Officer at Enviromena.

“By replacing components in accordance with safety standards and warranty requirements, we’re safeguarding asset integrity and supporting long-term energy generation.”
