Enviromena donates £12,000 to Winchester playground

Clean energy company Enviromena has donated £12,000 to bring an exciting new climbing structure to the popular play area at Littleton playground north of Winchester.

Keen to improve and enhance the surroundings of the communities they build in, Enviromena donated the money to Littleton and Harestock Parish to contribute towards the installation of the Labyrinth play feature in the centre of the playground.

Enviromena, which has built the nearby Three Maids Hill solar farm, are delighted that their donation has provided such a benefit for local families.

Local parish councillor Liz Winn said: “This new equipment is part of the Parish Council’s plan to continually improve the quality and safety of our playgrounds. We had removed a couple of structures which were popular but starting to deteriorate. With the money we’ve received we’ve been able to supplement the budget to replace them and now have a multi-challenge climbing structure which is also an attractive addition to the playground. We’re really pleased that it is already being well-used.

The team at Enviromena heard about the plan to renew the play equipment after working with the Council during the construction of Three Maids, which is located close to the A34 at Worthy Down.

Mark Harding, European Development Director at Enviromena, said: “Our sites promote the use of cleaner, greener energy. The 110-acre, 25.4 MW Three Maids Hill site is capable of providing enough electricity to power 9,500 homes and offset 6,800 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The project will have a major impact and provide communities with cheaper energy for many years to come – especially at a time when gas and electricity prices have reached record highs.”

Lee Adams, European Sales Director at Enviromena said: “Three Maids was an important project as it was our first major project in the UK. The local community and Parish Council were a great support to us during the build and we wanted to thank them by giving something back. That’s when the Parish Council recommended funding for this piece of much-loved play equipment, and we are thrilled to see the Labyrinth in situ and being enjoyed by local families.”

Enviromena’s Three Maids development is the first in its’s UK portfolio to go live and represents some of the 700 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy assets Enviromena manages, operates, and maintains. The company will develop its 1GW+ pipeline of renewable energy projects in Europe, the combination of developed – and a soon-to-be-constructed 2GW portfolio of solar, energy storage projects and onshore wind projects – will significantly aid in in the global aim to decarbonise electricity networks and reduce emissions.
