Enviromena acquires Medebridge Solar Limited as part of strategy to deliver 500MW of operational solar

Clean energy solutions company Enviromena has acquired a 70MWp solar farm in Medebridge, Essex, as part of its strategy to deliver 500MW of operational solar projects across the UK.

Medebridge is a large scale ready-to-build solar farm that once operational will generate over 71,000MWh per annum, enough energy to power over 26,000 homes and avoid more than 13,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The project was acquired from sustainable infrastructure investors NTR plc and comes with planning consent, grid connection, and land agreements all in place to facilitate the build. Construction will begin in the summer, with completion expected in the summer of 2025.

The acquisition of the Medebridge project was supported by last year’s fund raise of £65m undertaken with investors, Arjun Infrastructure Partners.

Chris Marsh, CEO of Enviromena, said: “The acquisition of Medebridge represents a significant milestone for Enviromena as we continue to drive forward with our plans to deliver 500MW of operational solar projects. In addition to assisting in our growth strategy, Medebridge will also make an important contribution in helping the UK meet its Net Zero targets.

“Supported by Arjun’s investment, we have worked collaboratively with NTR throughout the transaction and we are delighted to announce its completion.”

Arjun Infrastructure Partners’ Head of Asset Management, Julian Skinner, said: “Arjun is delighted to see the hard work put in by the Enviromena team come to fruition with this next step in their ambitious plans to be a leader in the renewable energy space. Arjun looks forward to continuing to support Enviromena’s growth, which will make a major contribution to the decarbonisation of the UK energy market.”

Anthony Doherty, Chief Investment Officer at NTR, commented: “While we have extensive expertise as asset managers of investment funds, when the opportunity arises, NTR also leverages its development expertise – as is the case with the Medebridge project. This is a great example of the value-add that the NTR team can generate in terms of developing and optimising a project and securing an investment grade, long term Corporate PPA. We are delighted to have worked with Enviromena on this develop and sell opportunity.”
